Why are these one-of- a-kind art assemblages special?
What is an assemblage? It is art made by assembling disparate elements and materials to create something unique.
Each is one-of-a kind, earth friendly, numbered and signed on the back.
Maria's "Birds with Words" "Fishes with Wishes" and whimsical friends are made through processes that
do not damage the earth's resources. The birds and animals are mixed media images of Maria's original paintings.
Each art assemblage is created using 95% upcycled, recycled, repurposed, vintage and found objects.
By using these materials, it is a small way of helping to preserve the environment at the same time giving items,
especially vintage pieces, a new life.
The materials are often saved from a landfill or rescued from a space tucked away in drawer for many years, unappreciated. Through art these items breathe new life and bring joys to others.
Maria's was raised in a very artistic family, often helping her Dad and Grandfather in their wood shops. Learning from her parents, grandparents and other family members as they created things by being resourceful and using what they has available. The process of creating these pieces, which seems magical as they come to life in Maria's hands
helps her feel closer to loved ones as she uses tools and techniques taught by her family.
One person's trash is another women's treasure.
Custom orders are welcome. Do you have vintage jewelry from a loved one, or a drawer full of things you don't want to throw away, but not sure what to do with them? Maria will gladly create a one of a kind piece using your materials.
